Red and a Tall Drink of Water In an obscured room two enthusiastic sweethearts energetically grasp. Outside a destraught man sits in a truck, drinking it up. The old melody " If I Didn't Care " , plays from a metallic radio. The alcoholic man bungles with a weapon while he attempts to escape the truck. He opens the entryway of the truck, staggers, drops and breaks the container of liquor, and the additional slugs spill onto the ground. The following scene is in a courtoom where a legal advisor is scrutinizing a man. " I was vexed. I was confounded and flushed. I for the most part needed to alarm them ", Andrew Dufresne tells the legal advisor that was cross-examing him. " This was revenge", the attorney yells in his summation discourse. The decision is blameworthy and the sentence is two life sentences, consecutive. A more seasoned dark man is sitting persistently before his parole hearing. The five men on the board inquire as to whether he thinks he is restored and he answers, yes. " It's the Gods legitimate truth, " says Red. " I'm completely restored. " His companions, ask him what occurred at the meeting. Red answers, " Same old poo, diverse day." He had been dismissed and denied parole once more. Outside in the activity yard a noisy alarm moans. The imprisoned men all assemble to get a gander at the new detainees that have recently shown up. Reds' initial introduction of Andy Dufresne was, " That one seems as though a solid breeze could thump him over. That tall beverage of water with a silver spoon up his ass." Little did Red know, as of now, however the two men would build up a solid bond. The shared companionship Red and Andy would develop, caused them both to grow an inward quality which helped them manage jail life.
